Trump warns of 'severe action' if Iran protesters are executed

         Donald Trump

Donald Trump has warned of "strong action" if protesters in Iran are executed.

"To all Iranian patriots, keep protesting," Donald Trump said in a speech in Michigan on Tuesday.

He called on Iranians to "take over institutions" and remember the names of "murderers and torturers," saying they "will pay a very heavy price."

He reiterated that the United States would come to the rescue of civilians protesting against the government in Iran. Trump said, "Help is coming."

When asked by the BBC's US partner CBS News to clarify this, Trump said, "There's a lot of help coming from different directions. From our perspective, there's a lot of economic help coming in different forms, but we're not going to be helping Iran very much."

Referring to the deaths of protesters in Iran, Trump said, "It seems to be a pretty significant number."

Asked about reports that protesters were set to be executed on Wednesday, Trump said, "If they do that, America will take very strong action."
