The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for three parts of Wales as Storm Dave approaches. The agency warned that 70mph gusts could cause "injuries and danger to life".

A number of weather alerts have been issued due to the rapidly deepening area of low pressure which will move across the UK on Saturday evening, bringing gales and heavy rain showers to the country.

Eight parts of Wales were previously covered by a yellow wind warning, which the Met Office has now upgraded to amber for three areas. See the weather maps showing the parts of Wales expected to be hit the worst here.

The Met Office said: "Storm Dave is expected to bring a spell of disruptive and potentially damaging winds on Saturday evening and night."

The amber warning covers Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey from 7pm on Saturday until 3am on Easter Sunday.

A yellow wind warning remains in place for Ceredigion, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd, Isle of Anglesey, Pembrokeshire and Powys. It is in force from 5pm on Saturday until 7am on Sunday.

Forecasters at the Met Office said a spell of "very strong" southwesterly and westerly winds are expected as a result of Storm Dave.

Gusts of 60-70 mph are possible widely with some coastal or exposed locations seeing gusts of around 80mph.

It has warned that “injuries and danger to life” is "likely" in areas covered by the amber warning, due to flying debris and large waves.

The strong winds are also expected to cause travel disruption.

The Met Office has advised people to secure loose outdoor items, check travel plans in advance and prepare for the possibility of power outages.
