Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado was seen leaving the White House carrying a gift bag bearing President Donald Trump's name.
Machado was seen carrying the bag alongside her purse as she crossed Pennsylvania Avenue to greet supporters outside the US President's residence. The red bag bears President Trump's signature in gold letters.
US broadcaster CNN has asked the White House to find out what was in the gift bag.
Earlier, according to reports from various international media outlets, including the BBC, Venezuelan opposition leader Machado met with Trump at the White House on Thursday and presented him with his Nobel Peace Prize medal.
Many expected that Venezuelan opposition leader Machado would receive US support after US forces recently removed Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in a special operation in Caracas, as Machado had claimed victory in the country's disputed 2024 elections.
Machado said he presented Trump with his Nobel Peace Prize medal.
Trump expressed his gratitude on social media after receiving the medal. In one post, he said, "This award is a wonderful sign of mutual respect."
Meanwhile, after his first direct meeting with Trump, Machado said, "I think today is a historic day for the Venezuelan people."
