Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Israel is looking for an opportunity to attack Iran, and he has conveyed this concern to Tehran's leadership.

Fidan said he gave the warning at a press conference with the Iranian foreign minister in Tehran on November 30 last year. He said that if Israel takes any such action, it will further undermine the stability of the entire region.

"I hope they will find another way. But the reality is that Israel is specifically looking for an opportunity to attack Iran," Fidan said in an interview with NTV on Friday.

Fidan recently expressed his concerns directly to Iranian officials during a visit to Tehran. "I told them everything as a friend," he said. "And you know, friends always tell the bitter truth."

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke by phone with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. He said that Turkey is opposed to any foreign interference in Iran and that they value peace and stability in neighboring countries.

A senior Iranian official told Reuters that they would consider any attack as an "all-out war." He said, "If the United States violates Iran's sovereignty, we will respond harshly. Our military is ready for any situation and Iran is currently on high alert."

US President Donald Trump has announced the deployment of a powerful naval force to the Persian Gulf. According to US media reports, the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and its accompanying ships have departed from the South China Sea for the Middle East. The fleet will arrive there in a few days.

Iranian officials have warned that they will view any attack, whether limited or large, as a full-scale war. They will respond decisively.

The US military last deployed large-scale naval forces to the Middle East in June 2024. The naval buildup was part of preparations to support Israel in its 12-day conflict with Iran and to attack Iran's nuclear program.
